1kg at a Time: Why We’re on a Mission to Clean the Ocean
Because looking good should never cost the planet.
At Sandbar, we believe fashion shouldn’t be wasteful, it should fight waste. That’s why for every item of swimwear you purchase, we fund the removal of 1 kilogram of plastic from our oceans.
Not “a portion of proceeds,” not “some vague donation to a mystery fund.”
A real, measured, meaningful 1 kilo. Every. Single. Time.
🌊 Why 1kg?
Because it’s tangible. It’s relatable. It’s roughly the size of a beach bucket full of plastic bottles. The kind of trash that would otherwise end up wrapped around a turtle’s neck or floating through coral reefs. And let’s be honest, it’s a lot more exciting than donating 3.8% of net margin after operational adjustments on fiscal Tuesdays.
💪 Impact You Can See
When you shop Sandbar, your customer account actually tracks how many kilos of plastic you've helped remove. That means you're not just buying swimwear, you're building a legacy. You're showing your kids that fashion and purpose can (and should) go hand in hand. It's sustainable living made visible.
So far, our customers have helped us remove over 39,000 kilos of plastic from the ocean. That’s equivalent to 3 million water bottles. Or 17 small whales. Or one very annoyed landfill that never saw it coming.
🌴 But Why Stop at the Ocean?
We started with the sea because, well, we’re a swimwear brand. But this mission is bigger than bikinis. It's about changing the way we all shop, making sustainability a default, not a “bonus.” Every Sandbar item is made from recycled plastic bottles and post-consumer waste. And we’re not slowing down.
We’re building a global community of eco-minded families, sun-seekers, wave-chasers, and plastic-fighters who care about what they wear and where it ends up.
So, why are we doing this?
Because we think your swimsuit should come with a ripple effect.
Because our planet deserves more than fast fashion and empty promises.
Because we believe that small actions like removing 1kg at a time can lead to big change.
Buy a swimsuit. Remove a kilo. Inspire a future.
